James Rex

My name is James Rex and I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with a degree in Secondary Education and certifications to teach both Social Studies and Mathematics.  In 2017, I earned my master's degree from Grand Valley State University.  Professionally, I had the pleasure of teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in Grand Rapids before coming to Godwin Heights.  In my time at Godwin Heights High School, I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Statistics.  As a teacher, student centered learning is the focal point of my teaching philosophy and I try to empower students to be the creators of their knowledge and share their ideas in class to enhance their learning and the learning of others.  Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing sports, reading, and traveling with my wife and our son, Jackson.  You may even see me at various Godwin athletic and extracurricular events supporting our Wolverines, so please don't hesitate to say hello!
